Custom Carpentry & Millwork
The Foundation of Everything We Build
Custom carpentry is the foundation of everything New Guild Design builds. The name reflects our roots — a carpentry guild — and that heritage defines every project. Custom built-ins, entertainment centers, mudroom lockers, home offices, library walls, window seats, coffered ceilings, wainscoting, bespoke furniture, and kitchen cabinetry: these are the projects we do best. The precision, the material selection, the fit and finish — it all starts with skilled carpenters who take their craft seriously.
The custom carpentry process begins with detailed measurements and concept sketches, then moves to 3D renderings showing the piece in the actual room. Clients see exact drawer configurations, material choices — solid wood species, plywoods, hardware — and finish options before any material is cut. New Guild Design works with domestic hardwoods (white oak, maple, walnut, cherry), cabinet-grade plywood, and quality hardware from established American suppliers. There are no shortcuts in a Guild project.
Built-in cabinetry and millwork often defines the character of a room more than any other single investment. A custom home library wall transforms a spare bedroom into a destination. A mud room bench with integrated lockers brings order to the chaos of a family home's entry. A coffered ceiling in white oak elevates a dining room from ordinary to extraordinary. These projects require both design talent and true craftsman skill — NGD brings both.
Custom carpentry projects range from single-room built-ins to full-house millwork packages for new construction or whole-home renovations. Every project is priced based on scope, materials, and current market conditions. We provide detailed project proposals outlining all costs before work begins. New Guild Design serves Orange County, NY.

Custom Carpentry FAQ
What types of custom carpentry does New Guild Design do?
Built-in shelving and cabinetry, entertainment centers, home libraries, mudroom systems, window seats, coffered ceilings, wainscoting, crown molding, custom furniture, and full kitchen cabinetry. If it's built from wood and requires precision, it's our work.
What wood species do you work with?
White oak, walnut, maple, cherry, and pine are most common. New Guild Design sources quality domestic hardwoods and cabinet-grade plywood from established suppliers.
How long does a custom built-in take to build?
A single built-in unit (bookcase, entertainment center) takes 3–6 weeks including design, material procurement, and installation. Larger millwork scopes take 6–12 weeks.
Can you match existing woodwork in my home?
Yes. Matching existing molding profiles, stain colors, and wood species is a standard part of our millwork and renovation projects. We take detailed measurements and samples to ensure seamless integration.
Do you deliver finished furniture, or do you install on-site?
Both. Some pieces are shop-built and delivered finished. Built-ins and millwork are typically installed and finished in place. We determine the best approach during the design phase.
How are custom carpentry projects priced in Orange County, NY?
Every project is priced based on scope, materials, and current market conditions. We provide detailed written proposals outlining all costs before work begins.
